Oldham Third Sector Support Providers Group

Voluntary Action Oldham, The Hub, Oldham Community Accountancy Service and Oldham Council Communities Unit have teamed up to offer a comprehensive training menu for those working or volunteering in VCS groups or organisations. Training on OldhamInfo 

Oldham Info are offering basic and advanced training on using their website. The website contains lots of local stats, research, and details on services in Oldham, which can prove very helpful in planning your work, and demonstrating the need for your work - especially in funding bids.

Course descriptions are not yet complete, but advanced training will probably include:

  • Use of the advance search
  • Use of favourites/permalinks
  • Understanding and working with downloaded data
  • Drawing and working with custom shapes (and circles)
  • Putting text on maps
  • The report wizard in detail

Dates are as follows:

Basic training: Wednesday 22nd September, 10-12 or 2-4.

Advanced training: Wednesday 29th September, 10-12 or 2-4.

‘Personalisation for Practical People'

A seminar aimed at community providers and infrastructure organisations who want to engage effectively in the personalisation agenda.

10-4pm Wednesday 27th October, Coventry

10-4pm Tuesday 2nd November, Manchester

This event seeks to go beyond the theory and rhetoric of personalisation to look at the challenges and opportunities personalisation presents for organisations and how they can begin responding to these changes in order to better meet their users' needs.

The seminar will provide you with:

  • An overview of what personalisation means in the current climate
  • The opportunity to raise and discuss the issues specific to your organisation
  • An introduction to resources and case studies to assist in the delivery of personalised services
  • Workshops looking at the particular opportunities and challenges for infrastructure, service providers and micro providers in relation to personalisation.

Target: Wellbeing’s Regional Support Network

Targeting Health Outcomes Training

Target: Wellbeing's Regional Support Network, in collaboration with the Academy for Health and Wellbeing, at Manchester Metropolitan University, is again offering a unique, free programme of courses which support understanding of health.

 
Targeted at third sector organisations, particularly those new to delivering health activities for funders and commissioners, these sessions will help you:
• Engage with commissioners on their terms, using their language and understanding their aims
• Gain a greater understanding of health inequality issues
• Identify what you already do to deliver health outcomes
• Address the commissioning agenda
 
Session Details:
All workshops will run from 10am to 3pm (lunch included), and attendees are required to attend all three workshops.
 
Workshop 1 – Wednesday 29th September
The current national and regional policies on healthy eating, physical activity and mental health, and how these relate to the social and economic factors which affect health.
 
Workshop 2 – Wednesday 13th October
Promoting and improving health with an emphasis on how to achieve changes in behaviour.
 
Workshop 3 – Wednesday 27th October
The skills and knowledge needed to complete a needs assessment, evidence needed when securing commissions and how health messages are communicated effectively.

This training is free, however If you book on a training session, but then are unable to attend, we require at least 24 hours notice. If we do not receive 24 hours notice your organisation will be charged £50 to cover the cost of your place.
