The Compact
Oldham’s new Compact agreement One Oldham Stronger Together was launched on Tuesday 19th May 2009 at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, West Street, Oldham.

What is One Oldham Stronger Together – The Oldham Compact?
It is an agreement, entered into freely and voluntarily, between local statutory bodies and the voluntary, community and faith sector.
It states the shared principles, values and commitments that will be the foundation for a strong relationship between the sectors.
What is its vision?
An agreement between the sectors will lead to:
- All partners working towards the same shared principles
- More effective relationships
- A commitment to inclusive working practices
- A recognition that all partners have an equally valuable role to play in improving the quality of life of people in Oldham
- A source of help with any problems in our working relationships
Who are the partners?
All are members of the Oldham Partnership, our local strategic partnership, which brings organisations together to make important decisions and to work together to improve the quality of life of local people.
The statutory bodies include Oldham Council, NHS Oldham, Greater Manchester Police and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service
The voluntary, community & faith sector includes all those organisations, large and small, which are independent of the state and non-profit making. In Oldham this important, diverse and wide-ranging sector is brought together and represented through the Voluntary, Community & Faith Partnership and the Children & Young People’s HUB.
What can you do?
If you are part of either the statutory or the voluntary, community and faith sector in Oldham make sure that your team, group or organisation is aware of One Oldham Stronger Together and has a Compact Champion. Make sure that you always consider the compact principles in your work and encourage your colleagues to seek beneficial partnerships. Keep up to date with progress.
