Volunteer Centre - What We Do

We work with people who wish to offer their time and skills in a voluntary capacity. We assist them to make informed choices about the opportunities open to them and support them in finding and sustaining a suitable placement.

The public are welcome to call in and make an enquiry, or to register an interest at any time and we operate an appointment system for interviewing and registration of volunteers.

We seek to signpost the volunteer to appropriate training to assist them in achieving their goals, which may be paid employment. We run information sessions for small groups either at the Voluntary Action Oldham base or at the groups own location.

We assist organisations and groups who provide volunteering opportunities to the public and who are registered with the Volunteer Shop. We do this by referring suitable volunteers to them and by encouraging and supporting the development of good practice in relation to their work with volunteers. Please contact us if you would like us to visit your project with an information stall or if you wish to register with us.

Visit the national database of volunteering opportunities to searchfor all opportunities around your postcode or search by areas of interest such as mental health or disability.
