VAO Key Objectives

DEVELOPMENT:

Supporting the sustainable development of voluntary and community organisations in Oldham. We will:

  • Identify areas of unmet need, develop solutions and create opportunities to meet those needs.
  • Identify ways that cross sector involvement and inclusion will benefit the development of the voluntary and community sector (including the private sector).

REPRESENTATION:

Enable the diverse views of voluntary and community groups to be represented to statutory bodies and within decision making processes and structures. We will:

  • Represent the interests of the voluntary and community sector in Oldham in an effective way.
  • Support theVoluntary, Community and Faith Partnership (VCFP) as a function of VAO.
  • Empowering individual members to represent the sector at a strategic level.

LIAISON:

Developing and maintaining links across the voluntary, community, faith, statutory and private sectors and promoting the ability of all sectors to network with each other. We will:

  • Promote co-operation, networking and partnerships across the sectors.
  • Strengthen the influence of the sector in decision making processes.
  • Facilitate and support local, regional and national links where this will further the work of the sector.

SERVICES AND SUPPORT:

Providing support that will underpin the function and develop the capacity of voluntary and community groups in Oldham. We will:

  • Build the capacity of voluntary and community groups in Oldham through high quality needs led services.
  • Provide information and support.
  • Share information and good practice across the sector.

STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS:

Ensure involvement and a strong voice from the voluntary and community sector. We will:

  • Support and facilitate the democratic process for electing members to the Partnership and the Board of Management of VAO.
  • Empower groups and individuals to represent their interests and those of their communities.
